Last Friday, March 13, the campus of the Lycée Français International de Bogotá was filled with color, music, and tradition during the celebration of Heritage Carnival (Carnaval Herencia). This event brought our entire educational community together to celebrate the cultural richness of South America.
This experience reaffirms the Lycée’s commitment to an international, intercultural, and bilingual education, where learning transcends the classroom and connects with the real world, preparing our students to be global citizens.
A Cultural Journey Through South America from the Classroom
On this day, each grade took on the challenge of representing a country from the continent, bringing to the stage some of the most iconic carnivals and cultural expressions from nations such as Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, and Argentina.
Through an artistic display full of creativity, our students successfully transported attendees to different corners of the region, highlighting the diversity that characterizes Latin American cultures.
These types of experiences are a fundamental part of international education in Bogotá, where cultural understanding, respect for diversity, and meaningful learning are promoted.
Interdisciplinary Learning: Art, Languages, and Culture
The event was supported by the music and language departments, integrating academic learning with artistic expression.
Thanks to this interdisciplinary approach—a hallmark of international schools in Bogotá—students did not just perform choreographies and theatrical representations; they also managed to convey the essence of each tradition.
A standout moment was the Barranquilla Carnival, renowned for its folkloric richness and vibrant cultural mix, serving as a living example of Colombian heritage.
Bilingual and intercultural education allows students to develop key communicative and cultural skills for a globalized world.
Talent, Creativity, and Pride on Stage
Carefully crafted costumes, high-energy stagings, and performances charged with emotion made this carnival an unforgettable spectacle.
Each performance was a testament to the commitment, dedication, and talent of our students, who successfully connected with the audience and sparked a deep sense of pride in their families.
The weather was also a perfect ally: an especially sunny day accompanied the event, allowing it to unfold in a warm and festive atmosphere within our facilities.
Comprehensive Education with an International Focus
More than just a celebration, Heritage Carnival established itself as a space for meaningful learning, where Latin American culture, art, and identity were experienced firsthand.
These initiatives reinforce our commitment to a comprehensive education in Bogotá, where students not only acquire academic knowledge but also develop:
- Cultural sensitivity
- Creativity
- Critical thinking
- A sense of belonging
- Global competencies
In a context where international and bilingual education is becoming increasingly relevant in the city, the Lycée Français International positions itself as an institution that prepares students for the challenges of the future.
An Experience That Connects Cultures and Transforms Learning
Without a doubt, it was a day that will remain in our community’s memory as a tribute to our roots and the joy that unites us as a region.
At the Lycée Français International de Bogotá, we believe in an education that inspires, connects cultures, and transforms lives.
