International Youth Games – IYG

On the way to the 2020 International Youth Games, a major event in school sport, the result of the partnership between the AEFE and the UNSS! 61 teams from 42 countries from 5 continents will meet in Chicago from June 15 to 20, 2020. A participation record for this unique event in the world which is celebrating its 10th edition, the year of the 30th anniversary of the AEFE.

After Arcachon (2011), Nice (2012), Rabat (2013), Aude (2014), Grenoble / Autrans (2015), Singapore (2016), Marseille (2017), Haute-Saône / Vesoul (2018) and Lebanon (2019), it is the turn of the North America zone and theLycée Français de Chicago to host this 10th edition

The 10th edition of the International Youth Games is already shaping up to be exceptional!

The enthusiasm for this unique program of the AEFE and the National School Sport Union (UNSS)is growing. Many schools and sports associations responded to the call for applications: 115 applications were submitted. All these high schools affiliated with the UNSS wish to bring international relations to life for their students. 61 mixed teams (three girls, three boys) will be present in Chicago.

On the program of this educational event, full respect for the identity of the event: sport, culture, heritage.

For the sporting challenge: urban orienteering, climbing, baseball, basketball, footgolf, sandball, kayaking, paddleboarding, rowing, flag football, will be on the program.

For the cultural challenge: an urban rally in the heart of Chicago, an artistic part prepared beforehand in each establishment during the school year, an opening ceremony, a closing ceremony, and a “country evening” which already appears as a highlight for each participants and delegations. All the youth of the world gathered will share culture, heritage and traditions.
